New Work for String Quartet:

Ghosts of Ukraine

Kyiv, Ukraine.jpg

Originally for Piano. Arranged for String Quartet.

I attended the first public performance of Ghosts of Ukraine for piano solo, which was premiered by Theodore Teris, the composer of the work. I was immediately struck by its directness, and by its pensive emotionality.

Teris dedicated the work to those who lost their lives in the Ukrainian Revolution of 2014.

The composer allows us to live a unique journey from the beginning C# through a highly expressive form and end in a different tonality.

The work has subsequently enjoyed performances by pianists from around the world, including pianist Dimitri Papadimitriou, whose live recorded performance from 2015 inspired my arrangement for string quartet.
